Claire Dyer at Crown Point, Oregon late 2008

about yours truly

I turn my head when I hear someone say, “Claire”, because that’s my name. My mom picked a good one; I get compliments on it a lot.
I currently reside in Rexburg, Idaho, where I attend Brigham Young University-Idaho. I will be graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design in July of this year.
Ever since I was little I would draw, mostly horses, and I got good. I’ve always loved the arts and creating with my hands. Yes there were specific Barbies on my Christmas list, but they were always outnumbered by Crayola products. My skills have expanded over the years and I have learned how to draw, paint, illustrate, screen print, make books, sew, build web pages, and design anything from logos to installation displays.
When I’m not creating something aesthetically pleasing, I like to listen to music of the loosely termed “indie” genre, searching out my genealogy (I’m related to a Viking King!), jogging, cooking, or watching something funny (ahem, 30 Rock).
After graduation I will be returning back to Oregon, and marry my best friend and partner extrordinaire. For the time being we'll settle in Corvallis, where he will be finishing his degree at Oregon State.

about claireification.com

I realize it's sort of a hokey play on clairification, and to be honest that’s what it started out as. It was the title of one of my highly opinionated blog entries. And then it just stuck as my blog persona.
So why is it the title of my professional portfolio site? Well, like I clarify my opinions, I also clarify messages. I feel that clairifying should be and is the primary job of a graphic designer, or any artist for that matter. I do my best to utilize every aspect of my design to convey a concept, and make the message easier to grasp.
